The Wings story began in 1977, when our late founder, Mr. Atef El Wassief, laid the cornerstone of a vision to bring world-class travel experiences to Egypt. This formative era marked the birth of Wings and set the stage for decades of growth and innovation.
During these years, Wings established Wings Tours & Nile Cruises, extending a warm welcome to its very first international guests and building bridges to global markets with the launch of operations in the USA and Japan. A defining highlight of this period was the introduction of M.S. JASMIN, our first Nile Cruise vessel, which set new standards in river hospitality and became a symbol of Egyptian warmth, excellence, and authentic hospitality along the Nile.
Entering a bold phase of growth under the strategic leadership and vision of Mr. Ahmed El Wassief, Wings evolved from a national brand into a regional and international player. In 1992, his appointment marked a new era of transformation and expansion. With a forward-looking vision and unwavering commitment to service excellence, he guided Wings’ growth from a single office in Egypt to a global network extending across the USA, Japan, and Europe.
Under his stewardship, Wings not only grew its Nile Cruise fleet but also opened landmark resorts in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, launched offices across Asia and the Middle East, and established Coral Sea Hotels Management. The introduction of flagship resorts further reinforced Wings’ leadership in resort development, with operations spanning from Alexandria to Aswan and beyond.
Guided by resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to hospitality, Wings has become a trusted name worldwide, proudly carrying the warmth of Egyptian culture to the global stage.
This period marked a defining chapter of innovation, renewal, and forward momentum for Wings. We expanded our luxury resort portfolio with the introduction of iconic Coral Sea properties, each designed to embody exclusivity, comfort, and a strong sense of place. At the same time, our cruise fleet underwent a comprehensive modernization program, elevating onboard experiences to new levels of quality, style, and environmental responsibility.
These initiatives not only reinforced our reputation for excellence but also demonstrated our long-term commitment to sustainability, guest satisfaction, and adapting to the evolving expectations of global travelers. By blending tradition with modern hospitality trends, Wings strengthened its position as a leader in delivering unforgettable leisure and resort experiences.
Wings continues to chart its path with innovation, sustainability, and a forward-looking vision at the heart of its growth. Building on its legacy of excellence, the company introduced WingsAMA, a specialized subsidiary dedicated to elevating river tourism. This milestone was marked by the launch of two state-of-the-art luxury vessels, M.S. AMADahlia and M.S. AMALilia, both designed to set new benchmarks in elegance, comfort, and service along the Nile.
Expanding further into authentic and boutique experiences, Wings founded Mazaj Cruises & Dahabeyas, a collection crafted to immerse travelers in the timeless charm of the Nile while delivering personalized journeys in an intimate setting.
In 2025, Wings reinforced its leadership in sustainable travel by becoming the first Egyptian tourism company to introduce electric buses, a pioneering step that underscores its commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and shaping the future of eco-friendly tourism in the region.
